What would Ninoy Aquino and Lean Alejandro do?

Three days ago Ninoy Aquino's assassination was remembered and in 26 days Lean Alejandro's death will be remembered.

They were the icons for Nationalistic ideologies and Democratic Struggle. Even at their young age, they served the Filipino people with utmost commitment to fight against Martial Law. Two decades had passed and many great political leaders had died in the line of fire, in the struggle to achieve a better future for our dear country, yet we are faced again with this kind of struggle.

The things that Ninoy and Lean had fought for had never been destroyed and were just stunted for the past years. Ninoy and Lean had hoped for a better governance and sided with the Filipino people in the times of threats. They had never been afraid to fight for what they believe which is good for the great number of Filipino people.

These kinds of people are what we need today. They are the epitome of how youth should think and act. A youth can always make a change. We the youth can always make a difference. In the times were most of the people felt like giving up, we the Youth should rise and speak our minds. To let our fellow people know that this is the time that we must unite for one goal.

If Ninoy Aquino and Lean Alejandro are alive I know they will call for the people to wake up. Speak and never be apathetic with our present political situation. They had become my idol and I will do my best to make them proud of today’s youth. Make them feel that their lives are not wasted but had been an inspiration to the people in guarding the values of the youth and the true nature of democracy.

I was sickened by the things how politics and politicians do today. Sure there were a few who fight for the great number of people. There are those who fight for the true meaning of being a Filipino and politics.

Le Cirque dinner is just a tip of the iceberg; corruption is a deep rooted problem that we should address. We must act as the guards against enormous stealing and rape in our country done by those in power. I call on the youth to know more and be aware of the true situation of our country. I can never lose hope with Philippines for I know; this is the only country I will call HOME.

Together with my fellow members of Kabataan Kontra Kahirapan (KKK) or Youth Against Poverty, were having a campaign in Facebook called “Be a Lean Campaign”. To learn more about our youth organization you can visit http://www.kabataankontrakahirapan.org and you can be the youth that this country need. YOUth take the Lead!
